SALISBURY, Md. - The No. 7 Salisbury University
women's lacrosse team picked up its fourth consecutive victory with
a 21-3 win over Capital Athletic Conference foe York (Pa.) College
on a sunny and breezy afternoon in front of a crowd of 150 at Sea
Gull Field.
Salisbury (4-0, CAC 1-0) built a 13-3 halftime lead and cruised
to an 18-goal win as 11 different Sea Gulls found the back of the
net.
Junior Sue Ackermann continued her hot play as
she scored her first of her game-high five goals just 20 seconds
into the contest. Senior Natalie Degele scored all
three of her goals in the first half and added an assist to fellow
senior Stephanie Shores who finished with two
goals and two assists.
As a team the Sea Gulls went 6-of-8 on free position shots led
by senior Katie Simmons who cashed in on both of
her free position shots.
Junior Alexis Morrell recorded a multi-goal
game for Salisbury.
York (0-1, CAC 0-1) had goals from Brianna Yapps, Lindsay Nixon
and Kaitlin Davis while goalie Anne Feustle made 16 saves.
Salisbury dominated the draw controls, 20-6, and won the battle
of groundballs, 27-15.
SU freshman goalie Erin Will made two saves and
improved her record to 4-0 as a starter.
The Sea Gulls will return to action on Wednesday, March 7 as
they host CAC first year member Villa Julie at 3 pm at Sea Gull
Field.
