No. 3 Sea Gulls roll past No. 18 Bears, 15-5

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - The No. 3 Salisbury University women's lacrosse team rebounded on Tuesday night from its first loss of the season with an impressive 15-5 win over No. 18 Ursinus College in front of a crowd of 112.

The Sea Gulls (11-1) were led by their starting attack line which produced 10 of the 15 goals scored. Senior Stephanie Shores led the way as she tallied a game-high four goals while fellow senior Natalie Degele and junior Sue Ackermann each totaled five points on three goals and two assists.

Ackermann ended her two-game scoring drought as she scored the games first goal just two-minutes into the contest to give SU the quick 1-0 lead.

Degele answered the Ackermann strike six-minutes later with her own unassisted goal to give the Gulls a 2-0 advantage.

After Ackermann's second goal at the 21:44 mark, Ursinus' Jenna Werley got the Bears on the board to cut the Salisbury lead to 3-1. However, Salisbury would score six of the next eight goals to take a 9-3 lead into halftime.

Ursinus (6-3) opened the second half with a quick goal from Kaitlin Glenn but the Sea Gulls answered with four consecutive goals to put the game out of reach.

Senior Katie Simmons scored two goals while seniors Ani Khatchatoorian and Kelly Mulligan and junior Jessica Liston each had one goal.

Freshmen goalie Natalie Pappas improved her record to 7-1 as she made four saves while UC goalie Allyson Shicora made 16 stops in net.

The Sea Gulls caused 15 of the 35 Ursinus turnovers as they were led by sophomore Jessica Chmielewski who had a game-high four caused turnovers. In addition, Chmielewski had two assists.

Salisbury returns to action on Saturday, April 7 as it hosts Capital Athletic Conference foe St. Mary's (Md.) College at 2 pm at Sea Gull Field.
