Three Sea Gulls selected for North-South game, Coach Nestor to lead South squad

SALISBURY, Md. - Women's lacrosse All-Americans Katie Simmons and Stephanie Shores will join Natalie Degele in the 2007 North-South All-Star game being held Saturday, June 16 at 2 p.m. in Downingtown, Pa. at the United Sports Training Center. Salisbury University coach Jim Nestor was selected as the coach for the South team that will feature the trio of Sea Gull players.

Nestor guided the No. 2 Sea Gulls to their best season in school history as they went 21-2 and were national runner-ups. He is a five-time Capital Athletic Conference Coach of the Year (2003-07) and the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) South Region Coach of the Year in 2004 and ‘05 and the IWLCA's Division III Coach of the Year in 2005

Simmons was the best scoring threat out of the midfield for Salisbury as she finished her senior year with 35 goals and nine assists. The Silver Spring, Md. native has also been named to the IWLCA All-American first team, IWLCA Chesapeake Region first team and was an All-CAC first team selection.

Shores led SU in goals with 59 and ranked third on the team with 16 assists. The Glen Burnie, Md. native has also been named to the IWLCA All-American third team, the IWLCA Chesapeake Region first team and was an All-CAC second team selection.

Degele quietly ranked second on the team in points (82) and assists (35) and ranked third on the team with 47 goals. The Ellicott City, Md. native garnered a spot on the IWLCA Chesapeake Region second team.
