Nestor named Chesapeake Region Coach of the Year

SALISBURY, Md. - Salisbury University women's lacrosse coach Jim Nestor was named the 2007 Chesapeake Region Division III Coach of the Year announced earlier this week by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA). Nestor was one of the five regional coaches of the year recipients for Division III. Anne Phillips from Franklin & Marshall earned the National Coach of the Year award.

Nestor led the Sea Gulls to arguably one of the greatest seasons in program history as SU set new school marks for wins (22), points (571), goals (376) and assists (195). The 21-2 Sea Gulls finished as national finalists and ranked No. 2 in the final IWLCA poll.

In addition, Nestor was named by his peers as the Capital Athletic Conference Coach of the Year for the fifth consecutive year earlier this season. Nestor was also named a Regional Coach of the Year in 2004 and 2005 and National Coach of the Year in '05. Nestor is 95-15 in six seasons at his alma mater.
