Four Sea Gulls named to IWLCA All-American teams

BALTIMORE - The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association announced its 2007 Division III All-American teams Wednesday and Salisbury placed three players on the first team and one on the third team.

Junior Sue Ackermann, the 2007 Capital Athletic Conference Player of the Year, was named to the first team at attack. Ackermann led the nation's third ranked offense with 119 points (51 goals, 68 assists) and also scooped up 25 ground balls.  

Senior midfielder Katie Simmons and junior defender Kelly Phillips joined Ackermann on the first team. Simmons led SU midfielders with 44 points (35 goals, nine assists), picked up 39 ground balls and created 28 turnovers. Phillips ranked second on the team with 39 groundballs and caused 15 turnovers on the nationally ranked defense (8th in the nation) which only allowed 6.83 goals per contest.

Senior Stephanie Shores garnered third team honors as she scored a team-high 59 goals. Shores added 16 assists and led the team with five game-winning goals.
