SALISBURY, Md. – On Saturday, February 9 the Salisbury University women's basketball team will be hosting its annual Play4Kay game against Southern Virginia University as the team looks to raise money and awareness for women's cancer research.
The Kay Yow Cancer Fund is a nonprofit organization committed to raising money for women's cancer research, serving the underserved and uniting others in the fight against cancer. Before legendary North Carolina State University women's basketball coach Kay Yow passed away in 2009, she beat the disease twice in a valiant effort that inspired and motivated people around the world. Play4Kay is one of the organization's biggest fundraisers, uniting players, coaches, and communities together to raise money in the fight against all women's cancers.
During the game, fans can purchase t-shirts for $10 as well as raffle tickets for a chance to win one of two gift baskets, including a Starbucks theme and Pink theme basket. Raffle tickets will be sold for $1 apiece or five tickets for $3 and can be purchased at a booth set up in Maggs lobby. Winners of the gift baskets will be announced during halftime of the game.
All proceeds will go directly to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.
The Sea Gulls encourage the fans to come out and support the team on Saturday by wearing pink to help raise awareness against all women's cancer when they host the Knights at 1 p.m.
