VIDEO: Women's basketball takes down Mary Washington
The Salisbury University women’s basketball team defeated the University of Mary Washington for the first time in three years on Saturday afternoon, picking up a 65-49 victory over the Eagles. Kaylyn French led the Sea Gulls in scoring with 16 points, shooting 47.1 percent from the field. French added six rebounds, three steals, two blocks, and an assist in the win. Senior Mary McDonagh did a little bit of everything, finishing with 12 points, seven assists, six rebounds, and three steals. McDonagh knocked down two of Salisbury’s three shots from beyond the arc on the afternoon. Rachel Ryan helped seal the victory, scoring 10 of Salisbury’s first 12 points in the fourth quarter. Ryan ended the game with 12 points on 4-for-5 shooting to go along with six rebounds. Salisbury is back in action on Wednesday, January 31 against No. 10 Christopher Newport University. The Sea Gulls and Captains will tip off at 5:30 p.m.
