Women’s basketball hosts annual Play4Kay game this Saturday

SALISBURY, Md. – On Saturday, February 17 the Salisbury University women's basketball team will be hosting its annual Play4Kay game against Southern Virginia University as the team looks to raise money and awareness for women's cancer research.

The Kay Yow Cancer Fund is a nonprofit organization committed to raising money for women's cancer research, serving the underserved and uniting others in the fight against cancer. Before legendary North Carolina State University women's basketball coach Kay Yow passed away in 2009, she beat the disease twice in a valiant effort that inspired and motivated people around the world. Play4Kay is one of the organization's biggest fundraisers, uniting players, coaches, and communities together to raise money in the fight against all women's cancers.

During the game, fans can purchase t-shirts for $12 and sign a memory board for $1, both of which will be available at the pink table located in the lobby of Maggs Physical Activities Center. Fans can also purchase raffle tickets for a chance to win one of three gift baskets, including a Valentine's Day basket, breast cancer awareness basket, and SU bookstore basket. Raffle tickets will be sold for $1 apiece or five tickets for $3. Winners of the gift baskets will be announced during halftime of the game.

All proceeds will go directly to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.

The Sea Gulls encourage the fans to come out and support the team on Saturday by wearing pink to help raise awareness against all women's cancer as they conclude their regular season against the Knights at 1 p.m.
