Women's basketball battles back, falls at Gallaudet

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Salisbury University women's basketball team clawed back throughout its game at Capital Athletic Conference foe Gallaudet University Wednesday night. The Sea Gulls erased a 16-point, second half deficit and eventually took a one-point lead of their own, but could not hang on, falling to the Bison, 69-68.

The Gallaudet (7-3, 3-1 CAC) lead topped out at 53-37 with 13:20 remaining in the game. The Sea Gulls chipped away, going on a 16-5 run to get within striking distance and were able to gain their first lead of the game, 68-67, on a three-pointer by sophomore guard KC Curran (Malvern, Pa.) with 1:20 left in the game. The shot was good for three of her team-high 19 points.

Gallaudet was able to capitalize on its final chance of the game, connecting on a field goal with 33 seconds left to claim the victory.

Curran was one of four Sea Gulls (5-5, 2-1 CAC) to score in double figures on the night. Senior forward Kylie Hall (Baltimore, Md.) and sophomore guard Glen Charlton (Landover, Md.) each went 6-for-12 from the floor and scored 14 points while junior guard Chante' McKinney (Gaithersburg, Md.) added 10 points. Hall also had seven rebounds while she and freshman guard Nicole Sisco (Fairlawn, N.J.) each dished out four assists. Sisco also had four steals.

Salisbury will be back in action Saturday, when the Sea Gulls host No. 7 Marymount at Maggs Physical Activities Center. The game is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
