Golden Eagles edge Sea Gulls 54-51 in NYU Women's Basketball Classic

NEW YORK - The Salisbury University women's basketball team started the New Year in the New York University Women's Basketball Classic as the Sea Gulls faced The College at Brockport State University of New York. The Sea Gulls were in the game the entire time before they were edged by the Golden Eagles, 54-51, in the final minute.

Salisbury (0-10) fell into an early deficit in the first half but would take a 10-9 lead at the 12:29 mark of the first half on a jumper by sophomore Chante McKinney. SU and Brockport State traded baskets the rest of the half en route to a 25-25 tie at halftime.

The closely matched contest would continue its back-and-forth flow late into the second half. Freshman Glen Charlton made a lay-up to tie the game at 50-50 with 1:15 left in the game. The tie proved to be the 10th and final one of the game. The final minute belonged all to the Eagles, who took the lead for good on Brenlyn Campbell's lay-up with 53 seconds remaining.
