YORK, Pa. - The Capital Athletic Conference announced its weekly conference player of the week awards on Monday and Salisbury University junior forward Kylie Hall was named the co-recipient for women's basketball for the week of February 9. Hall is sharing the weekly award with York (Pa.) College sophomore guard April Sparkman. This is the first selections the SU women's basketball team has received this season.
The junior forward collected a pair of double-doubles for the Sea Gulls and helped lead them to two pivotal victories in CAC play. Hall scored 16 points and grabbed a career-high 18 rebounds in a 76-59 win over St. Mary's (Md.) College. Last Saturday, Hall scored a career-high 19 points and pulled down 10 rebounds in a thrilling 61-59 victory over Wesley College.
The Baltimore native leads the team in rebounds (9.2 per game) and is second on the team in scoring (10.2 per game). The junior captain has played and started in all 21 contests and has logged over 700 minutes of action.
Sparkman led the No. 12 Spartans to CAC victories over Mary Washington and St. Mary's (Md.). The sophomore hit the eventual game-winner over Mary Washington and established a new career-high with 24 points over St. Mary's.
Salisbury has won five out of its last seven games and will next travel to Washington, D.C., to face Gallaudet University on Wednesday, February 11, at 6 p.m. in another CAC contest. SU won the last meeting on January 17 with a 68-45 win at home.
