DANBURY, Conn. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference released monthly track & field awards on Friday afternoon and Salisbury University had three athletes earn recognition from the organization as Jamie Farley, Kyleigh Dumas, and Michael Van Gieson all found themselves among the list of honorees.
Farley was named the Division III Women's South Track Athlete of the Month for April after turning in impressive performances both as an individual and part of the 4x100 and 4x400-meter relay teams. Farley helped the 4x100-meter relay team set a new school record of 48.42 seconds at the Eastern Shore Challenge as well as setting a school record in the 4x400-meter relay at the 125th Penn Relays with a mark of 3:56.00. For the month of April, Farley accumulated seven top-five finishes including four as an individual with one victory.
Dumas garnered Division III Women's South Field Athlete of the Month honors for the month of April. She finished no lower than second in the pole vault including a victory in the event at the Captains' Classic behind a height of 11' 11.75." Her best mark of the month came at the Eastern Shore Challenge in which she cleared the bar at a height of 12' 3.5." Dumas also garnered a third-place finish at the 125th Penn Relays, which marked the highest individual finish for a Salisbury athlete.
Van Gieson rounded out the list of honorees as he was named the Division III Men's South Track Athlete of the Month. Van Gieson was solid for the maroon and gold throughout the month of April both as an individual and as part of both the 4x100 and 4x400-meter relay teams. Individually, Van Gieson picked up four top-10 finishes while helping the relay teams to four top-five finishes that includes three wins. At the 125th Penn Relays, Van Gieson and the 4x400-meter relay team posted their best mark of the season, 3:15.90, which not only won their heat but also helped them qualify for the Men's Eastern Final marking the first time a Salisbury team had earned the honor to compete in the event.
