NEW ORLEANS – The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released its 2016-17 Scholar Teams of the Year and All-Academic Team honors on Friday morning.
For a team to be in contention for the Scholar Team of the Year, a program must finish highly at the respective national championship meet and have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher.
The Salisbury University women's track & field team was honored as it was named to the 2017 USTFCCCA All-Academic Teams list after recording a cumulative team GPA of 3.428 during the 2016-17 school year.
A total of 294 teams (183 women's and 111 men's) were honored by the USTFCCCA for their academic achievements.
The highest cumulative GPA of any team, men's or women's, belonged to the women's team of Saint Vincent College. The Bearcats posted a team GPA of 3.727 to just edge out Mount Holyoke College, which posted a team GPA of 3.72.
On the men's side California Institute of Technology and Middlebury College tied for the lead recording GPAs of 3.62 this past season.
