Men's 4x400 team wins heat, as Gulls impress at Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA - The Salisbury University men's and women's track & field teams continued their seasons this weekend, competing in the three-day Penn Relays at the University of Pennsylvania on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.


The Sea Gulls' 4x400-meter relay team put forth another impressive effort to add to its season. Senior Luke Campbell, junior Jerel Madison, and sophomores Zach Schmelz and Eric Halton won their heat in a time of 3:15.78, beating out several NCAA Division I schools. Overall the time was good for 26th in the race.

Campbell also ran in the 110-meter hurdles, finishing 12th with a time of 14.24 seconds.

The Gulls closed out the meet in the 4x800-meter relay, run by senior George Martinez, junior Tom McIntyre, and freshmen Emmanuel Porquin and Robbie Calloway. The team ran a time of 7:52.52 to place 19th.


The women's 4x400-meter relay team also competed in the meet, as juniors Kelsey Larger and Stephanie Bidle, sophomore Chanel Beaudoin, and freshman Jamie Farley finished in a time of 4:05.03.

The Sea Gulls return to the SU Track for their next meet, hosting the SU Rumble on Saturday, May 7. The meet is set for 11 a.m.
