NEW ORLEANS – The Salisbury University men's track & field team moved up two spots in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field National Team Computer Rankings, coming in at No. 17, the organization announced on Tuesday.
The Sea Gulls moved up from the preseason rankings a week ago, with 39.98 points in this week's poll. Salisbury has not competed since it opened the 2015-16 indoor season at the Christopher Newport University Holiday Open on December 5, as the recent inclement weather prevented the Sea Gulls from traveling to Ursinus College for the Collegeville Classic this past weekend.
The first week of rankings for this season features three Wisconsin schools at the top with No. 1 University of Wisconsin-La Crosse (169.74 points), No. 2 University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire (114.79 points), and No. 3 University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh (100.76 points). No. 4 North Central College (97.30 points) and No. 5 St. Olaf College (90.15 points) rounded out the top-five schools.
The Sea Gulls get back in action on Friday, January 29 in a two-day event at the George Mason University Open. The meet is set to begin at 10 a.m., Friday and will continue on Saturday, January 30 at 10 a.m.
