McGowan named first CAC Women's Field Athlete of the Week of 2015-16 season

YORK, Pa. – The Capital Athletic Conference announced its first women's track & field awards for the 2015-16 indoor season on Tuesday, and Salisbury University junior Meghan McGowan claimed the first Women's CAC Field Athlete of the Week honor.

McGowan made an impression in the only indoor meet for the Sea Gulls this season before the new year, placing third in the high jump at the CNU Holiday Open hosted by Christopher Newport University. McGowan was the top Division III finisher in the event, and her effort in clearing 5' 3" stands as the top mark in the CAC and is tied for seventh nationally at the Division III level for the season.

Last year, McGowan earned an All-American in the indoor high jump and was named the CAC Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week for three-consecutive weeks.

McGowan and the Sea Gulls will be off until next month, with their next meet being the Collegeville Classic, hosted by Ursinus College, on January 23, 2016.
