Campbell, Austin qualify for finals in Salisbury's last preliminary races

CANTON, N.Y. – The No. 7 Salisbury University men's track & field team continued into day two of the 2015 NCAA Division III outdoor track & field championships on Friday, qualifying for Saturday's finals in two more events.

Junior Luke Campbell and senior Tyler Austin both advanced to the final day of the championships in the 110-meter hurdles and 100-meter dash, respectively.

Campbell started things off, winning the second-of-three preliminary heats in 14.23 seconds. He posted the second best time of the preliminaries. Campbell took an early lead in the race, being the first to each hurdle, winning by .06 seconds in a close finish with Aurora University's Bobby Cooks.

Austin then followed in the first heat of the 100-meter dash preliminaries. He finished fourth in the race with a 10.90-second time, good for seventh overall in the preliminaries.

With the two qualifying efforts, Salisbury will now have athletes in seven events for the finals, with eight total Sea Gulls competing.

The final day of the championships will take place on Saturday, May 23, beginning with senior Dylan Burkett and sophomore Meghan McGowan in the men's shot put and women's high jump, respectively; those events are set for 11:30 a.m.
