YORK, Pa. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference announced its womens track & field Athletes of the Week, and Salisbury University sophomore Meghan McGowan was named the Division III South Co-Athlete of the Week.
McGowan took first in the high jump with a 5' 8" leap in the New Captains Classic at Christopher Newport University on Saturday, breaking the program record for the second-week in a row. After a 5' 7.75" jump last week, she bested her own record by a quarter of an inch in Newport News, Virginia.
The height moved the Odenton, Maryland native into a tie for first in the country, while keeping a hold on the No. 1 spot in the conference.
She was joined Misericordia University's Amy Viti with the honor.
McGowan and the Sea Gulls will be back in competition on Thursday, April 23 for their first day of the Penn Relays at the University of Pennsylvania; the start time for the event is to be announced.
