NEW ORLEANS – The Salisbury University men's track & field team continues to keep a spot in the top 15 of the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association NCAA Division III team computer rankings, coming in at No. 14, the organization announced on Tuesday.
The Sea Gulls earned 66.84 points in the rankings, coming off of a strong meet at the New Captains Classic on Saturday at Christopher Newport University. Salisbury tallied six first-place finishes in the meet, including four from the throwing events to lead the team.
There was some movement in the top-five teams, including a big jump from new No. 4 Monmouth (Ill.) College, which moved into the poll from No. 27 last week with 116.61 points.
No. 1 University of Wisconsin-La Crosse (206.25 points), No. 2 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater (145.89 points), and No. 3 University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire (145.31 points) all remained the same, while the top five was rounded out by No. 5 Augustana (Ill.) College, which moved up two spots with 112.68 points.
The Sea Gulls also come in at No. 1 with 343.04 points in the regional rankings for the Mideast region, while the Salisbury women's team is ranked No. 4 in the Mideast region with 237.93 points.
Salisbury returns to action on Thursday, April 23 for the first day of the three-day Penn Relays at the University of Pennsylvania.
