YORK, Pa. – The Capital Athletic Conference announced its weekly track & field awards, and Salisbury University senior Thomas Burke and sophomore Meghan McGowan were named the men's track Athlete of the Week and women's field Athlete of the Week, respectively, the league announced on Tuesday.
Burke helped to lead the men's team at the Johns Hopkins/Loyola Invitational on Saturday to a first-place finish by taking first in the 800- and 1,500-meter runs. In the 800, Burke set his best time of the season in 1:54.22, giving him the No. 1 time in the CAC and the No. 27 time in the country.
In the 1,500 run, Burke finished the race in 4:01.21 for his second top finish of the meet, helping to earn his first conference Athlete of the Week award of the season.
McGowan also notched her best effort of the season for the women, taking first in the high jump with a 5' 7.75" leap. She moved into a tie for second in the country with the height, while also setting Salisbury's program record by more than one inch.

Salisbury returns to action on Saturday, April 18 at Christopher Newport University for the Captains' Classic; the meet is set for 9 a.m.
