NEW ORLEANS – The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association released its second week of computer rankings for the outdoor season, and the Salisbury University men's track & field team moved up one spot to No. 11, the organization announced on Tuesday.
The Sea Gulls earned 73.94 points in the rankings, after the team showed a strong effort on Friday and Saturday at the Colonial Relays at College of William and Mary. Salisbury finished the meet with the best Division III score for the weekend.
There was some movement within the top-five teams this week, with No. 1 University of Wisconsin-La Crosse as one-of-two schools to keep a hold of its spot from last week with 192.68 points.
No. 2 University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire (142.38 points) and No. 3 North Central (Ill.) College (128.08 points) both moved up two spots in the poll. No. 4 University of Mount Union dropped two spots with 98.78 points, while No. 5 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater held its spot with 98.58 points.
Salisbury travels to Johns Hopkins University for the Johns Hopkins/Loyola Invitational on Saturday, April 11 for its next action; the meet is set for 9 a.m.
