NEW ORLEANS – The Salisbury University men's track & field team maintained a spot in the top 15 of the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association NCAA Division III computer rankings, coming in at No. 12, the organization announced on Tuesday.
The Sea Gulls garnered 74.72 points, less than one point behind Wabash College at No. 11, in the rankings. Salisbury most recently notched a second-place finish as a team at the Big Dawg Invitational at UMBC on Saturday; the Gulls tallied 202 points in the meet.
Junior Luke Campbell took first in the 110- and 400-meter hurdles to lead the team, which tallied five first-place finishes in the event. Campbell's 14.73-second time in the 110 hurdles currently sits second in the country in Division III.
There was no movement within the top five, as University of Wisconsin-La Crosse kept the No. 1 spot with 196.97 points. No. 2 University of Mount Union (151.08 points), No. 3 University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire (132.12 points), No. 4 North Central (Ill.) College (99.71 points), and No. 5 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater (96.86 points) rounded out the top five.
Salisbury returns to action on Friday, April 3 for day one of the Colonial Relays at College of William and Mary for a two-day event that will continue on Saturday, April 4.
