NEW ORLEANS – The Salisbury University men's track & field team regained a spot in the final United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association Division III top 25 poll of the indoor season, moving up to No. 20 in the country, the organization announced on Tuesday.
The Sea Gulls earned 34.44 points in the poll after the team won its fourth-straight Capital Athletic Conference indoor championship on Saturday at Christopher Newport University. SU has won the title each season since the conference began indoor competition in the 2011-'12 athletic season.
There was a shakeup in the top five of the poll, as University of Wisconsin-La Crosse moved into the No. 1 spot with 158.14 points from No. 3, last week. No. 2 Mount Union College (145.93 points) also moved up two spots, while No. 3 North Central (Ill.) College (143.85 points) and No. 4 University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire (128.72 points) both dropped two spots. No. 5 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater tallied 106.50 points to stay at No. 5.
The Sea Gulls will be in action again on Sunday, March 1 in the George Mason University Winter Games; the meet is set for 9 a.m.
