SELINSGROVE, Pa. - The Salisbury University men's and women's track & field teams sent a contingent of athletes to the Susquehanna Invitational at Susquehanna University on Saturday.
The Sea Gull men were led by their throwers, who tallied five top-10 finishes, as SU had six top-10 placements in the meet.
Senior Dylan Burkett notched two, placing second in the weight throw with a 53' 7" toss and fifth in the shot put with a 48' 3.5" heave.
Senior Ryan DiPascale led the team in the shot put, finishing second on a 51' 5.5" toss.
Salisbury's sixth top-10 finish came in the 200-meter dash by sophomore Carmelo Barresi with a time of 23.15 seconds.
The Sea Gulls were paced by sophomore Paige DeMent, who notched two finishes within the top 10, including a second-place effort in the shot put (41' 7.75") and a ninth-place effort in the weight throw (45' 5.25").
Salisbury finished the meet with five athletes in the top 30 of their events, with senior Juliana Albano tallying two. She placed 22nd in the long jump with a 15' 8.75" leap and 28th in the triple jump with a 32' 1" effort.
Freshman Erica Monterio capped SU's day with a 20th-place finish in the 400-meter dash (1:03.76).
The Sea Gulls now look forward to the Capital Athletic Conference championships on Saturday, February 21; the event will take place at Christopher Newport University and is set to start at 9 a.m.
