YORK, Pa. – Junior Luke Campbell of the Salisbury University men's track & field team was named the Capital Athletic Conference men's track & field Track Athlete of the Week for the second time during indoor competition this season, the league announced on Tuesday.
Campbell led the Sea Gulls during the Vince Brown Invitational at Christopher Newport University on Saturday, finishing in the top five of three events, including taking first place in the 400-meter dash (49.41 seconds) and the 60-meter hurdles (8.05 seconds). Both times ranked first in the conference, while Campbell's 400 time sits 11th in the country and his hurdles time ranks second in the country; he was the only Division III runner to race in the 60-meter hurdle finals in the meet.
He continued his big day with a fifth-place finish in the 200-meter dash in a time of 22.38 seconds, as he ranks first in the CAC and 12th in the country in the event.
Campbell and the Sea Gulls return to action on Saturday, February 14 in the Susquehanna Invitational at Susquehanna University; the meet is set to begin at 10 a.m.
