NEW ORLEANS – The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association released its most recent top-25 poll, and the Salisbury University men's track & field team held strong at No. 20 in the country.
The Sea Gulls earned 38.54 points in the poll, after a strong effort in the George Mason University Patriot Games on Friday and Saturday. Led by senior Dylan Burkett, SU had 10 top-five finishes during the meet, with Burkett notching two in the shot put and weight throw.
The top-five teams remained unchanged from last week, with North Central (Ill.) College staying at No. 1 with 164.32 points. No. 2 University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire ranks just behind by less than a point with 163.88 points. No. 3 University of Wisconsin-La Crosse (154.95 points), No. 4 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater (150.75 points), and No. 5 Mount Union College (132.50 points) rounded out the top of the poll.
The Sea Gulls will be back in action on Sunday, February 8 at the Vince Brown Invitational at Christopher Newport University; the meet is set to begin at 9 a.m.
