NEW ORLEANS, La. – The United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association NCAA Division III team computer rankings were released Tuesday afternoon, and the Salisbury University men's track and field team was ranked No. 16 in the country.
The Sea Gulls have competed in one meet so far this season at the Christopher Newport University Holiday Open on December 6, in which the team was led by Luke Campbell's first-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles (8.17 seconds). The men combined to total 16 top-10 finishes during the meet.
With one meet under their belt, the Gulls garnered 42.79 points in the computer rankings, finishing .95 points ahead of No. 17 University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh (41.84 points).
University of Wisconsin-La Crosse was ranked the No. 1 team in the country with 176.66 points, while No. 2 University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire (159.56 points), No. 3 Mount Union College (136.22 points), No. 4 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater (123.42 points), and No. 5 North Central (Ill.) College (106.46 points) rounded out the top five.
The Sea Gulls will be back in action on Friday, January 23 in the Collegeville Classic at Ursinus College; the event is set to begin at 3 p.m.
