DANBURY, Conn. – Junior Luke Campbell of the Salisbury University men's track & field team continued his successful first week of the 2014-15 indoor season, earning his second weekly award as the Corvias Eastern College Athletic Conference Men's Indoor Track and Field NCAA Division III South Athlete of the Week, the league announced.
Campbell began the season by leading the Sea Gulls in the Christopher Newport University Holiday Open with a first-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles in a time of 8.17 seconds. He posted an 8.08 second time in the preliminary race, which currently ranks second in the country.
He continued the meet in the 200-meter dash, finishing seventh in 22.76 seconds, before helping the Gulls take second in the 4x400-meter relay, as the team ran in 3:27.87. Campbell's 200 time also sits second in the country, while the 4x400 time ranks fourth.
Campbell and the Sea Gulls will return to action on Friday, January 23 at the Collegeville Classic at Ursinus College; the meet is set for 3 p.m.
