Men's 4x800 relay team honored as top Division III squad

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Salisbury University track and field team is still bringing in the honors after a successful 2014 spring season, as the 4x800 relay team, made up of juniors Thomas Burke and George Martinez and sophomores Eric Wood and Ian Wood, has been named the Accusplit Top Relay Team for the event in Division III for 2014.

Beginning in the 2011 season, Accusplit began awarding Division II and Division III relay teams for top performances, and the Sea Gulls were recognized for their effort in the 2014 Penn Relays, recording a time of 7:37.20 and setting a new school record by nearly 10 seconds.

As the only Division III team in the event, the Sea Gulls won their heat and finished ninth out of 26 teams with the time.

With the honor, the SU team will be recognized at the 2014 United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association Convention during the Division III session on Tuesday, December 16 at 5:45 p.m.
