Snyder, Jordan named CAC Track & Field Athletes of the Week

YORK, Pa. – The Capital Athletic Conference released its weekly track & field awards on Tuesday and Salisbury University junior Jeffrey Jordan and sophomore Lauren Snyder were honored by the league.

Jordan claimed the Men's Field Athlete of the Week award for his efforts in the outdoor season-opening Lloyd Sigler Spring Meet and the Coastal Carolina Invitational. In the Sigler Spring Meet at the SU Track, Jordan earned a win in the discus and a pair of second-place finishes. His 136' 10" effort in the discus was four feet past the second-place finisher.

The Bellemead, N.J., native placed second in the shot put, with a personal record of 42' 7.5", and took second in the hammer (128' 9").

At Coastal Carolina, Jordan just missed a personal record in the discus, placing 11th with a top effort of 143' 4", and took 20th in the hammer (138' 11").

Snyder earned the Women's Track Athlete of the Week award, following three wins at the Sigler Spring Meet and a strong showing at Coastal Carolina in three events.

The Leonardtown, Md., native won the 200-meter dash, in 27.29 seconds, and the 400-meter dash, in 1:02.19 in the season-opening event and joined with senior Ameera Teal and freshmen Makiah Green and Stephanie Bidle to win the 4x400-meter relay, with a time of 4:11.44.

At Coastal Carolina, Synder placed fourth in the 400-meter dash, in a time of 1:02.18, and finished ninth in the 200-meter dash (27.38 seconds). She was also part of the 4x400-meter relay squad that placed 12th.

Snyder, Jordan and the Sea Gulls will return to action this Saturday, traveling to the Goucher Invitational.
