CENTERVILLE, Mass. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference released its weekly awards on Wednesday and Salisbury University junior Thomas Burke was honored as the ECAC Division III South Track & Field Male Athlete of the Week.
Burke, who was named the Capital Athletic Conference Men's Track Athlete of the Week on Tuesday, claimed a win in the 800-meter run at the Captains' Invitational this past weekend, covering the distance in 1:55.56, the second-fastest time in the nation this season.
The Sussex, N.J., native also helped two relay teams to second-place finishes, including a new school record in the distance medley relay. Burke, along with juniors, George Martinez and Brandon Horning, and sophomore Ian Wood, ran the race in 10:29.14, breaking the school record which had stood since 2006.
Burke was also part of the 4x400-meter relay team which finished second with a time of 3:26.87.
