NEW ORLEANS – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association released its latest rankings on Wednesday and the Salisbury University men's track & field team remained in the conversation as one of the best teams in the nation, ranked No. 15 this week.
Salisbury holds 60.79 points, just 1.6 points behind No. 14 Calvin College, while there are three other teams within just 7.09 points of the Gulls.
Current Sea Gulls boast seven performances which rank in the top 20 in the nation, as they will await the invitations to the NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championships late this weekend.
The men's team sits atop the Mideast Region standings, with 329.70 points, well clear of second-ranked Widener University (247.05 points), while the women sit in fourth in the Mideast Region with 172.21 points, just over 13 points behind Moravian College (185.35 points). The Salisbury women also have three top-20 performances this season, on the national list.
The USTFCCCA National Team Computer Rankings are a projection of how teams could fare at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, which will be held May 23-25 in La Crosse, Wis.
The NCAA invitation list is expected to be announced on Sunday, May 19.
