NEW ORLEANS – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association released its weekly national rankings on Wednesday, and the Salisbury University men's track & field team has found a spot at No. 10 in the nation, after claiming its 14th Capital Athletic Conference title on Sunday.
Salisbury earned 73.40 points to be placed in the top 10 and is separated by just 1.04 points from Augustana (Ill.) College, which sits in ninth place. The University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh took over the top spot with 218.36 points as the previous leader, University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, fell one spot to the second slot with 201.71 points.
After the men's performance in the CAC championship last weekend, the Sea Gull men boast 10 performances in the top 25 in the nation this year. Sophomore Tyler Austin's performance in the 100-meter dash over the weekend places him in the top three times for the race, covering the distance in 10.55 seconds.
Salisbury remained the top team in the Mideast region with 338.98 points, over 85 points ahead of second-place Widener University.
The Salisbury University women rank fourth with 174.99 points in the Mideast Region.
Next on the schedule for the Sea Gulls will be the SWAT Last Chance Meet, hosted by Swarthmore College on May 13.
