YORK, Pa. – The Capital Athletic Conference announced its weekly track & field awards on Tuesday and Salisbury University freshman Luke Campbell and senior Chelsea Tavik each earned Athlete of the Week honors for their performances at the New Captains' Classic hosted by Christopher Newport University.
Campbell earned his third weekly award, being named the league's men's Track Co-Athlete of the Week following three event victories. Campbell won the 110-meter hurdles (14.61 seconds) and 400-meter hurdles (53.24 seconds), while joining Richard Newman, Jacob Adedeji and Tyler Austin in winning the 4x100-meter relay in 42.14 seconds.
Tavik won one event, while finishing as the top Division III performer in four total events to be named the CAC women's Field Athlete of the Week for the fourth-consecutive week. Her distance of 46' 2" was good for the top spot in the shot put, while Tavik placed second in the hammer (151' 9") and javelin (127' 10") and finished fifth in the discus (113' 1").
The Sea Gulls will be back in action this week, traveling to Philadelphia for the historic Penn Relays, beginning on Thursday, April 25.
