YORK, Pa. – The Capital Athletic Conference released its weekly track & field awards on Tuesday and Salisbury University senior Chelsea Tavik claimed her fifth CAC weekly award of the season, being named Co-Field Athlete of the Week.
Tavik finished in the top six in two events at the Duke Invitational, as the top Division III finisher in both the hammer throw and shot put.
The Glen Burnie, Md., native broke her own school record in the hammer throw, covering 160' 9" with her best effort, nearly two feet beyond her previous mark. She placed sixth in the hammer while taking fifth in the shot put, covering 47' 2.25".
Tavik and the Sea Gulls will be back in action this Saturday at the Johns Hopkins/Loyola Invitational, beginning at 9 a.m.
