YORK, Pa. – The Capital Athletic Conference announced its weekly track & field awards on Tuesday and Salisbury University senior Chelsea Tavik claimed her second CAC Track Athlete of the Week award.
Tavik earned a pair of wins at the Susquehanna Invitational, climbing up the national performance list in both the weight throw and shot put. Tavik's effort of 53' 10.5" in the weight throw, is 13th best in Division III this year and was less than an inch shy of her own school record in the event. Her winning distance of 45' 6.26" in the shot put ranks sixth nationally this season. She is the defending national indoor champion in the shot put.
Tavik and the Gulls are in action this Sunday, Feb. 17 as they travel to George Mason University for the CAC Indoor Championships. Salisbury won the inaugural men's and women's CAC title in indoor track in 2012.
