NEW ORLEANS – The Salisbury University men's track & field team put in impressive work to succeed in competition and in the classroom during the 2010-11 academic year. On Tuesday, the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) named Salisbury's men's squad one of 64 Division III All-Academic Track & Field Teams.
In order to be eligible for recognition teams must post a cumulative grade-point average of 3.1 for the academic year. The Sea Gulls finished the year with a 3.183 GPA.
The award comes one year after Salisbury was named the 2010 Scholar Team of the Year for its high GPA and runner-up finish at the 2010 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championship.
The Sea Gulls were the only Capital Athletic Conference team to earn the award in 2011. Salisbury saw some impressive individual performances in the CAC this season with junior Jay Drenner being named the CAC Athlete of the Year and Ryan Jackson named Rookie of the Year. Salisbury also had 10 All-CAC selections.
