YORK, Pa. - The Capital Athletic Conference announced its weekly award winners on Tuesday, and Salisbury University picked up a pair of awards. Sophomore Chelsea Tavik was named Women's Field Co-Athlete of the week, while junior Jay Drenner received Male Field Co-Athlete of the Week honors.
At the West Chester Invitational last weekend, Tavik gained a gold medal in the shot put (41' 6"), silver in the discus throw (106') and bronze in the hammer throw (117' 8").
Drenner won gold medals in both the discus throw (135' 7") and hammer throw (140' 3"), as well as a silver medal in the shot put (44' 4.25") at the same invitational.
Tavik shares the honor with sophomore Twila McCrea of Wesley College. Drenner also shares the award, with Chauncey Mason of Frostburg State University.
The teams' next meet will be on Saturday, April 16th when they travel to York, Pa., for the CAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
