Briefings from Berea: Updates from the NCAA Division III Track & Field Championships

BEREA, Ohio - On Friday afternoon, senior thrower Brandon Fugett (Randallstown, Md.) captured his second individual national title in the men's shot put. This afternoon, two of his teammates on the Salisbury University track & field team will look to follow in his footsteps and take the top spot at the podium in their own events at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Baldwin-Wallace College.

Seniors Delannie Spriggs (Owings, Md.) and Cory Beebe (Medina, Ohio) both already have national titles to their name. Spriggs captured first place in the 55-meter dash at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships in March, and Beebe will defend his title today in the 400-meter hurdles. Below are the results for today's events:

Saturday, May 29:

Cory Beebe, 110-meter hurdles - Sixth place, 14.31 seconds (Division III season's best)

Delannie Spriggs, 100-meter dash - Second place, 10.48 seconds (broke previous school record of 10.52 seconds)

Cory Beebe, 400-meter hurdles - NATIONAL CHAMPION, 51.19 seconds (stadium record)

Delannie Spriggs, 200-meter dash - Fourth place, 21.49 seconds
