Spriggs, Fugett named USTFCCCA Indoor All-Americans

NEW ORLEANS – The Salisbury University track & field team sent two athletes to the NCAA Division III Indoor Track Championship Meet and both came back as All-Americans, as announced by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Tuesday.

Salisbury senior Delannie Spriggs (Owings, Md.) earned his All-American status by picking up a national championship as well, claiming the 55-meter dash in a school-record time of 6.20 seconds. It marks the fifth time in his career that Spriggs has been named an All-American in either the indoor or outdoor season.

Senior Brandon Fugett (Randallstown, Md.) finished fifth in the shot put with a top distance of 54’ 9 ¼”. This marks the third straight season, dating back to last year’s indoor season, that Fugett has been named an All-American in the shot put.

The athletes will begin on their way toward another All-American award for 2010 when they open their competition in the outdoor season at the Wake Forest Invitational at Winston-Salem, N.C., this weekend.
