Fugett named CAC Track and Field Athlete of the Week
YORK, Pa. - The Capital Athletic Conference announced its weekly track and field award winners and senior All-American Brandon Fugett (Randallstown, Md.) was named the CAC Men’s Track & Field Athlete of the Week.
Fugett had a big day this past weekend at the Maryland Terrapin Invitational. He placed in the top two in three different events, winning the discus with a toss of 156’ 8”. Fugett also put up a 54’ 1 1/4” shot put distance and a 161’ 6” heave in the hammer throw; both finishes were good for second place. His day was made that much more impressive as he competed against mostly athletes from Division I institutions.
Fugett is the defending national champion in shot put in outdoor track as well as the all-time record holder at Salisbury University for shot put and discus. He has already provisionally qualified for the NCAA Division III Championships in late May in all three events (shot put, discus, hammer throw).
The teams will be back in action on Saturday, April 3, when they travel to the University of Pennsylvania for the Penn Invitational. They will return to Pennsylvania for the West Chester Invitational on April 9 and 10. Salisbury returns home on April 17 to host the CAC Conference Track & Field Championships.
