Fugett named to All-Academic team by USTFCCCA
NEW ORLEANS – Brandon Fugett (Randallstown, Md.) may have
closed out his career as a student-athlete at Salisbury University
by defending his national championship in the shot put at the NCAA
Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships on May 28, but
his work on the field and in the classroom continues to bring
accolades.
Fugett was named to the 2010 Division III All-Academic Track
& Field team by the United States Track & Field and Cross
Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) this week. The honor is
given to student-athletes who have compiled a 3.30 cumulative
grade-point average and have met either the NCAA Division III
indoor or outdoor automatic or provisional qualifying marks in
their respective events.
Fugett qualified for the national championships in the shot put
in both the indoor and outdoor season this year, posting a Division
III season-best heave of 58’ 9.25” at the outdoor
championships.
The Randallstown, Md., native closed out his Sea Gull career as
a two-time national champion, a four-time All-American, the 2009
Capital Athletic Conference Athlete of the Year and a 10-time
All-CAC selection.
The USTFCCCA will release its All-Academic Teams next week.
