Beebe Named CAC Men's Track and Field Athlete of the Week
YORK, Pa. - Salisbury University senior Cory Beebe (Medina, Ohio) has been named the Capital Athletic Conference Men’s Track & Field Athlete of the Week for the week of April 6. The CAC recognized Beebe for his outstanding performance at the University of Pennsylvania’s Penn Invitational on Saturday. This is the first time Beebe has received the recognition for the 2010 season. He previously had been honored with the title three times during the 2009 season.
At the Penn Invitational this past weekend, Beebe earned the first place spot in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 51.28 seconds. His time also tied the school record and automatically qualified him for the NCAA Track and Field Championships. However, Beebe had already qualified for the championship meet on March 20 at the Wake Forest Invitational where he secured a second-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 51.93 seconds. Beebe also earned a second-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.82 seconds, which qualified him provisionally for the NCAA Championships.
The Sea Gulls will next travel to West Chester, Pa., on Friday, April 9 and Saturday, April 10 for the West Chester Invitational. Both days are scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. The maroon and gold will next compete at home on April 17 at 10 a.m., when they host the Capital Athletic Conference Track and Field Championships.
