Fugett repeats as CAC Men's Track and Field Athlete of the Week

YORK, Pa. - The Capital Athletic Conference announced its weekly award winners on April 7 and Salisbury University junior thrower Brandon Fugett was named the co-recipient of the Men's Track and Field Athlete of the Week award. This is the fourth CAC award for the SU men's track and field program this season, third straight and second consecutive for Fugett.

Fugett and the Sea Gulls competed in the Penn Invitational held on Saturday, April 4, at historic Franklin Field on the campus of University of Pennsylvania. Fugett shined at the event improving on his school record marks in the shot put and discus as he finished second in both events. In the discus, Fugett threw a distance of 161 feet and three inches which is second best in Division III this spring and improves his provisional status for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships. In the shot put, Fugett threw a distance of 52 feet, three and three quarter inches, sixth best for all of Division III this spring and improves his NCAA provisional status.

Fugett shares the award with Wesley College sophomore athlete Matthew Robertson. Salisbury's other CAC Men's Track and Field Athlete of the Week recipients include junior Cory Beebe (March 10), junior Delannie Spriggs (March 25) and Fugett (March 31).
