Beebe receives his second CAC Men's Track and Field Athlete of the Week award

YORK, Pa. - The Capital Athletic Conference announced its weekly award winners on April 28 and Salisbury University junior sprinter Cory Beebe was named the male track and field athlete of the week. This is the fifth time this spring a SU men's track and field athlete has been named CAC Athlete of the Week. This is the second time Beebe has been the recipient as he was previously honored on March 10.

Beebe and the Sea Gulls competed in the 115th annual Penn Relays Carnival at historic Franklin Field hosted by the University of Pennsylvania last weekend. The All-American had a strong performance for the Gulls as he ran the fastest time in all of Division III this season in the 400-meter hurdles. His time of 52.60 automatically qualified him for the NCAA Division III outdoor track and field championships held in Marietta, Ohio, from May 21-23. Beebe finished in 13th place overall and broke his previous school record of 53.20 which he set in the Sea Gull Opener on March 7.

SU junior Brandon Fugett (March 31, April 7) and junior Delannie Spriggs (March 25) are the other previous CAC Athletes of the Week for the Sea Gull men's track and field program.

Salisbury will next travel to Frostburg, Md., to compete in the 2009 Mason-Dixon Outdoor Track and Field championships from May 1-2.
