Men's and women's swim teams suffer first losses of season
GLASSBORO, N.J. - The Salisbury University men's and women's swim teams both suffered their first losses of the season at the hands of Rowan University on Tuesday evening; the men fell 114-140, while the women were defeated 112-141.
The Sea Gulls had a slew of second place finishes but were unable to capitalize on any events with the exception of the 400 yard freestyle relays, which both the men and women took first place in. The men's relay team of freshman Paul Zoli (Fallston, Md.), junior Chad Buist (Onancock, Va.), freshman Eric Robichaud (Annapolis, Md.) and junior Joe Wisda (Rockville, Md.) finished the race in a time of 3:28.46, a full seven seconds ahead of second place. The female relay squad, which consisted of freshman Christine Cook (Rockville, Md.), sophomore Robin Stone (Germantown, Md.), senior Angie Hammond (York, Pa.) and sophomore Jenna Petrella (Marlton, N.J.) completed the race in 3:56.68, eight seconds ahead of the second place finishers.
Salisbury had a fantastic start to its season, as it defeated Capital Athletic Conference foe Marymount (Va.) on Oct. 24. The maroon and gold look to rebound from tonight's loss, as well as add on to their perfect conference record, when they swim against CAC foes Mary Washington and Gallaudet on Oct. 31 in Washington, D.C. The meet is set to begin at 1 p.m.
