Salisbury splashes Hood; both men and women take first place
SALISBURY, Md. - The Salisbury
University men's and women's swim teams couldn't have performed
much better in their second and final home meet of the season
on Saturday afternoon, as the Sea Gulls captured first place in
nearly every event to defeat Capital Athletic Conference foe Hood
College.
The women, who defeated Hood 110-41, rallied together in a true
team effort to win all but two events. The men's team won all but
three events, sealing a 110-52 victory. The maroon and
gold's first home meet, back on Oct. 24 against CAC rival
Marymount (Va.) University, had a similar outcome as both the men
and women came away with solid victories against the Saints.
Three members of the men's team swam their last events at home
in maroon and gold: Sean Snee
(Monkton, Md.), Mike
Ferrari (Columbia, Md.) and Kevin Lonergan (Milford, Del.). The women's
side will see five Sea Gulls leave the flock at the
conclusion of this season: Laura Dignan (Middletown, Del.), Maureen Gillespie (New Market, Md.),
Angie Hammond (York, Pa.), Jessica Krauss (Clarksville, Md.) and
Lindsay Southworth (Westminster, Md.).
The Sea Gulls will have two weeks to rest and regroup before
their next meet on Jan. 23 against CAC opponent St. Mary's (Md.)
College. The meet is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
