Men finish third, women fifth at Golden Bear Invitational

KUTZTOWN, Pa. - The Salisbury University men's and women's swim teams hit the road this weekend to compete in the Golden Bear Invitational, hosted by Kutztown University. It marks the first and only invitational the Sea Gulls will be swimming in this year.

After two days of competition the men's team finished third overall (432 points), and the women's team finished fifth overall (219 points). The Sea Gulls swam competitively through the meet, racking up a slew of top-six finishes. Junior Drew Robichaud (Annapolis, Md.) led the way, taking second place in the men's 100-meter backstroke with a time of 2:10.59. Another strong event for the maroon and gold was the men's 800-yard freestyle relay, with two Sea Gull relay teams finishing in the top six.

On the women's side, the relay team of sophomore Robin Stone (Germantown, Md.), senior Jessica Krauss (Clarksville, Md.), senior Angie Hammond (York, Pa.) and junior Katy Turner (Salisbury, Md.) swam a 1:57.92 in the 200-yard medley relay, good for fourth place.

The Sea Gulls will return to competing in dual meets as they face Capital Athletic Conference foe York (Pa.) College on Dec. 4. The meet is slated to start at 6 p.m.
