Winter weather forces change to CAC swimming championships schedule

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. - The winter weather that has crippled the Middle-Atlantic section of the country has now taken its toll on the Capital Athletic Conference swimming championships, which will take place Friday through Sunday, Feb. 12-14, at St. Mary's (Md.) College.

Many teams had planned to travel to St. Mary's City on Thursday as the championships had been scheduled to begin on Friday morning with preliminary rounds at 10 a.m., and finals following later in the evening at 6 p.m. The snow that has covered much of Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Delaware will prevent travel on Thursday, causing teams to arrive Friday morning and therefore necessitating a change in the schedule.

Friday morning's session has now been canceled and Friday's lone session will now begin at 4 p.m. There will be no trials, as all three races scheduled for each gender on Friday will now be timed championships.

Saturday's and Sunday's schedules remain unchanged. Be sure to check www.suseagulls.com each night during the championships for an update on the progress of the Salisbury University men's and women's swim teams.
