Sea Gulls split tri-meet with Mary Washington and Gallaudet

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Salisbury University swimming teams split a Capital Athletic Conference tri-meet held at Gallaudet University on Saturday afternoon. Salisbury's men's and women's teams beat Gallaudet but lost to University of Mary Washington, who swept the meet, by the same identical 97-25 score.

SU's women's team (2-1, 1-1 CAC) won two events on the day. Junior Jessica Krauss took first place in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:15.04. Sophomore Katy Turner turned in a strong performance as well as she won the 100-yard butterfly (1:01.50). Salisbury beat Gallaudet 82-40. Mary Washington dominated the tri-meet and improved to 3-0, 2-0 CAC on the season. Gallaudet (0-2, 0-2 CAC) dropped both decisions to open its season. 

On the men's side, the Sea Gulls (1-2, 1-1 CAC) won one event in the meet. Junior Mike Ferrari flew past the field in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:04.20. Salisbury beat Gallaudet 88-34. Mary Washington (2-1, 2-0 CAC) dominated on the men's side as well as they defeated both Salisbury and Gallaudet. The Bison are now 0-2, 0-2 CAC to start the season.

The maroon and gold will be back in action on Saturday, November 8, for a conference meet on the road against Marymount (Va.) University at 2 p.m.
